Pyrolox Systems
PYROLOX - Iron, Manganese, & Hydrogen Sulfide Removal
® is a granular water filtration media used for the removal of hydrogen sulfide, iron and manganese. A naturally mined ore, Pyrolox has been used in water treatment for more than 75 years.
  • Chemical-Free Oxidizing Media
  • Durable media with long service life
  • Can be combined with chlorine or air injection feed
  • Backwashing is only maintenance requirement
  • Ideal pH Range of 6.5 - 9.0
  • Recommended service flow rate of 5 gpm/sq ft
  • Recommended backwash flow rate of 25 gpm/sq ft
Greensand Systems
GREENSAND - Iron, Manganese, & Hydrogen Sulfide Removal
Manganese Greensand is formulated from a glauconite greensand and is capable of reducing iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide from water through oxidation and filtration.
When the oxidizing capacity power of the Manganese Greensand bed is exhausted, the bed has to be regenerated with a weak potassium permanganate (KMnO4) solution thus restoring the oxidizing capacity of the bed.
  • Iron reduction over wide pH range
  • Effective reduction of hydrogen sulfide
  • Low attrition rate for long-lasting service life
  • Regeneration with Potassium Permanganate required
  • pH range of 6.2 - 8.5
  • Iron range of up to15ppm
  • Hydrogen sulfide range of up to 5ppm
  • Service flow rate of 5 gpm/sq ft (intermittent to 10 gpm/sq ft)
  • Backwash flow rate of 10 gpm/sq ft
BIRM Systems
BIRM - Iron & Manganese Reduction
Birm® is an efficient and economical media for the reduction of dissolved iron and manganese compounds from raw water supplies.
Birm, acting as a catalyst between the oxygen and the soluble iron compounds, enhances the oxidation reaction of Fe++ to Fe+++ and produces ferric hydroxide which precipitates and may be easily filtered. The physical characteristics of Birm provide an excellent filter media which is easily cleaned by backwashing to remove the precipitant. Birm is not consumed in the iron removal operation and therefore offers a tremendous economic advantage over many other iron removal methods.
  • Under the proper conditions, no chemicals to purchase for maintenance.
  • Iron removal efficiency is extremely high
  • Negligible maintenance cost: only periodic backwashing required.
  • Durable material with a long life and wide temperature range
  • pH range of 6.8 - 9.0
  • Iron range of up to15ppm
  • Dissolved Oxygen (D.O.) content must be equal to at least 15% of the iron (or iron and manganese) content. Air Injection may be required otherwise.
  • Service flow rate of 5 gpm/sq ft (intermittently higher flows are possible)
  • Backwash flow rate of 10 gpm/sq ft
